Raisa Naser Khan.
The man who has such power to fly all over, with the long cape?!
Indeed a colorful thought!
But I am here to introduce you to the real hero who saves his family without any cape nor having both legs.
He is Abul Kalam, said to be a rickshaw puller but a real hero indeed.
I was walking through the pathway of banani road-6,he called me from behind and asked me if want a drop?!
Neither I could say with the guilt of seeing the agony of his state nor I was able to say no to him.
Finally,I got into his rickshaw.
With a speechless state of mind,I started asking about him and his family.
He claimed to be the only bread earner of his family that consists of four members, one is he,himself and the other three are his daughters who were his strongest pillars and also a treasure for him.
He could not afford of educating his daughters and give them a survival life according to him.
So,he got two of his daughters married.
And one is still unmarried but his dream was to see her getting married to someone and settled by.Due to financial problems he couldn’t get her married as there are still issues of dowry in the rural areas.
I asked with a stammering voice,”How do you manage paddling with one leg?
He said’I am happy that I have one leg atleast.Although it’s difficult to paddle the rickshaw whole day but when I close my eyes my daughters come infront of my eyes and I forget everything.
I was empty to say the next word.
When I arrived my destination,I asked him if he could get a motor rickshaw.
He said’No that is too expensive and is out of my ability to afford.
I told him to meet me next week at the same place where he took me from.
I decided to buy him one and being selfless for a moment.I gathered contributions from friends and family and gave him the sum to buy a motor rickshaw.
After a week,he appeared with a million dollar smile and claimed to be the blessed person in this berg.
With tears on my eyes I said,I am blessed that I met a superman in real-life.
Conclusively,I see these kind of cases often nowadays in my area but we need to raise our voice at least even if we can’t help them financially,we can try to find a way for such infants to be issued motor rickshaws for free.At least not the rickshaw but the motor maybe?!
In Bangladesh there are many unprivileged people like this and the first we do for them is bringing colors to their lives by speaking for them atleast.
I hope this message awakens every person in this berg.A little contribution doesn’t hurt.
A salute for the superheroes who are working like Abul kalam today.
